Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro

Mozart had a really hard job to convince emperor Joseph II to give his permission to the opera version of the work since the emperor bristled up against the anti-aristocratic tones of the original Beaumarchais play. Da Ponte, the librettist, eventually took off the edge of social criticism, „leaving” Mozart the opportunity to create the psychologically also perfect characterization. You can find everything in this opera called „commedia per musica”: love, intrigue, secret letter… but the most beautiful being forgiveness and learning how to live with one another.
